big hit in romania!
early in the morning of 21 in timisoara - romania took place a few
solidarity actions with prague.
there were posters put around the town.
the message was:
ANOTHER WORLD IS POSSIBLE!
SAY NO TO WAR!
SAY NO TO MILITARISM!
SAY NO TO NATO!
also there were 2 banners dropped on major roads, saying:
- NATO= MISTAKE!
- STOP NATO! + the nato sign thrown in a garbage can.

the action got huge backgroung from the media, this way becomming a huge
succes. local and national newspappers, radios and tv gave huge coverage
to
this action.
the news were also not bad, because nobody said nothing bad about the
action, it was just almost real, non-denaturated news. police are in big
trouble explaining who it was. they lied and said that they arested
already
2 persons/suspects. speaker of timisoara police said that there is nothing
to do about it, except maybe some fines if they catch the people who did
it. also there is the question how legal is this investigation they
started
it. because the people who put the banners, in case of fine will probably
go to court... other non/political posters ewere not given fine or started
investigation. in case of fine there will be need for gathering of money,
because most probably it will be big... some say that between 300 euro and
almost 1000...
some say it will be only 100 euro more or less!
this lead to a big mobilisation of police for 21, they were affraid of
anti-nato protests. in the tv interviews on the streets, some of the peole
showed solidarity with the poster people saiyng that they are right.
21 in the evening some people saw, 2 guys getting out of a car in the
center and ripped down the posters of a wall. there is the question if
they
were from the (secret) police or if there are members of the government
party PSD- the socialist democratic party.
the action of the psd were well shadowed in all media, while theyr effort
to gain political advantage out of the invitation for romania to join nato
was almost 100 % ignored, the poster action got enormous coverage.
some think that PSD is behind the starting of this investigation.
this is the first action that gets a this kind of big and good coverage.
if some people will get arrested or get a fine, they will be no doubt a
case of harassement for political beliefs.
most probably if they will cath the people they will try to link them with
drug use/traffic, antistate propaganda, or whatever they will need to
scare
this people off (including make trouble with the family, school, work
etc.).
